WHY “IM SCHILF”?

“Reusch” is the name of the festival venue and derives from the Middle High German words “rüsch” or “riusch” (“reed”). It originally referred to a place overgrown with reeds or a marshy area.

“Musig im Schilf” picks up on this and also plays a bit on the idea that “in the reeds” can sometimes stand for a secluded, special place. That’s exactly where the festival takes place: somewhat hidden away, surrounded by nature and mountains, but perfect for music.
